Although I didn’t hate Superman Returns it felt empty to me. I loved the idea that Bryan Singer had to continue the story where Richard Donner’s Superman II had left off. However, Singer tried to continue the tone of the Richard Donner films 22 years after they were released. It didn’t work for me because I had moved on and was looking for a new approach to the Superman story. Now comes the Christopher Nolan produced Man of Steel. I can’t remember the last time I had to see a movie on open weekend. The Man of Steel has got me excited enough that I’m not going to be able to wait two weeks to use the discounted movie tickets before hitting the theater.
